Migrations - People and knowledge on the move Migrations - Personnes et connaissances en mouvement Leaving one's territory and adapting to a new environment is not a new phenomenon in Laos. Since the opening of the country to the market economy, migratory phenomena have taken place because of the policies of relocation of the populations carried out by the government, the economic attractiveness of certain regions (road construction, hydroelectric projects, agribusiness and mining). Foreign migrants are also joining some construction sites of buildings and supermarkets as well as the vast railway yard underway in the North of the country and coming to the whole territory. As a result, these migratory routes do not appear to be unrelated to the spread of the HIV epidemic in Laos.

Résumé :
Leaving one's territory and adapting to a new environment is not a new phenomenon in Laos.
